Willard Blanch, 95, of Mantorville, passed away peacefully at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
 

Willard was born Jan. 24, 1920, on the home farm, to Bert and Hattie Blanch. He graduated from Mantorville High School class of 1936. He was valedictorian and a class officer. Willard farmed the family farm until he retired at age 57. He married Dorothy Allen in April of 1979. Dorothy passed away in May of 2005.
 

Willard was a 51-year member of Mantorville Masonic Lodge #11, where he was past Master. He also belonged to Mantorville Eastern Star and was a lifetime member of the Congregational Church in Mantorville. Willard was also a longtime member of Dodge County Farm Bureau. He was honored by K-M FFA as Honorary Farm in 1975. Willard and Dorothy loved to vacation to Branson, were active members at Mantorville Senior Citizens, and the Eastern star. 
 

Willard is survive by Kelly Allen, Bruce (Jeannine) Allen, Linda Connelly, Don (Debbie) Allen, John (Carol) Allen, Kathy Bertelson, Roger (Pauline) Allen, Dr. Jim Gute, Josephine and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 

Willard was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Hattie Blanch, immediate family, his wife, Dorothy Blanch, Loren Allen and Tony Bertelson, and Sandra Allen.
 

Memorials are preferred to Mantorville Masonic Lodge #11, Mantorville Senior Citizens or Mantorville Congregational Church.
 

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 515 Walnut St., in Mantorville, on Saturday, March 21, with Pastor Brian Egelston officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no reviewal. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville. 

Glenda (Linda) Gail Anderson, 66, of Byron, passed away Friday, March 27 peacefully at home. She was born June 10, 1948, in West Bend, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Evelyn Allen.
 
Glenda graduated from Adams High School with the Class of 1966. On February 17, 1968 she was joined in marriage to Gerald Anderson. In 1974, they moved to Byron, Minnesota. In 1969, Glenda started her career at the United States Post Office, serving in Austin, Rochester, Byron and West Concord. In 1984, she became Post Master at the Kasson Post Office and served there for 11 years.
 
In her spare time she enjoyed crafts, reading, making music and spending time with family and friends. In addition, she frequently volunteered her time with family and friends. In addition, she frequently volunteered her time to many organizations in the community. She also had a lifelong love of horses; she owned and cared for many horses during her youth.
 
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Anderson, of Byron; four children, Tracy (Renae) Anderson of Hayfield, Kris Kauffmann of St. Louis Park, Melanie (Steven) Zickrick of St. Charles and Michael (Tara) Anderson of Kasson; five grandchildren, Alex Anderson, Blake Anderson, Autumn Zickrick, Calvin Zickrick and Marissa Zickrick.
 
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Allen, and mother, Evelyn Allen.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2 at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 201 Frontage Road NW, Byron, MN with Pastor Steve Rheingans and Pastor Jack Friedli officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no reviewal.

Pearl Kathryn Swenson passed away on March 19, 2015, at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson. She was 94 years old. Pearl was born on August 24, 1920 in Norseland, MN to Martin and Hattie Annexstad. She grew up on Lake Park Farm, the family farm, in a close bond with her two siblings and many nearby cousins. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and often reminded people, “I’m Norwegian you know.” She graduated from St. Peter High School and Mankato Commercial College, then went on to work in the government office in St. Peter and at Honeywell in Minneapolis.
 
On December 15, 1945 she married Warren E. Swenson at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland, MN. They moved to Kasson in 1955 where they operated Warren’s Variety Stores, Inc., with stores in Kasson and Fridley. Warren and Pearl knew each other all of their lives and were only separated by WWII, and his death on July 21st, 2009.
 
In her earlier years, Pearl loved to bowl and was active as an adult leader in both the girl and boy scouts. She was an avid Minnesota Viking Fan, loved playing 500, “digging in the dirt” with her flowers, and spending time at the lake, or on the family boat. She was an avid walker, enjoyed her volunteer work, and, with her great sense of humor, was always upbeat and positive. She was an example of a life well lived to her family and countless others.
 
She and Warren were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church for almost 60 years, where she enjoyed working on various church committees, especially the annual Lutefisk Dinner. She served on the board of the Dodge County American Cancer Society and along with Warren, introduced the Relay for Life to Dodge County in the mid 90’s. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star for which she was a member for over 50 years, and a member of the Bethel Guardian Council of Job’s Daughters.
 
Pearl is survived by son Kirk (Marilee) Swenson of Mantorville, daughter Kathy (John) Kruger of Stamford, CT. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14th at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW in Kasson. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 13th, at the church. A private family burial will be held at Scandian Grove Cemetery in Norseland.

Robert “Bob” Arnold Lechner passed away at his home April 3, 2015 at the age of 86.
 
Robert was born December 19, 1928, to Otto and Winifred Lechner on the family farm in Washburn, North Dakota. He graduated from Washburn High School in 1946. After high school, he worked on the family farm and on the Garrison Dam. He then attended NDSU for three years; returning to the family farm. Robert served in the US Army from 1954-1956. After his military service, he returned and graduated from NDSU.
 
In 1958, he began working for IBM at the Grand Forks Air Force Base (SAGE). While in Grand Forks, he met M. Loretta Gerszewski-Sevigny. They were married on December 26, 1959, at St. Michael’s Church in Grand Forks. In 1962, Robert transferred to the IBM plant in San Jose, California. In 1973, he transferred to Rochester, MN. In 1978, Robert was transferred to Vermont and earned his Master’s Degree, transferring back to Rochester, MN in 1979. Robert retired from IBM in 1990.
 
Robert became involved in the Boy Scouts in 1963. He was the leader of Cub Scout Pack 376 in San Jose, CA from 1964-67. In 1968, he became assistant scout master. In 1969, Robert became a scoutmaster. He remained a scoutmaster in both San Jose and Mantorville until 1994 (8 years after his youngest son was out of scouting). In 1995, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award; one of Boy Scouts highest adult honors. Robert was awarded the Scouters Key in 1977. In 1979, Robert was awarded “Scouter of the Year” for the district. He was also a member of the “Order of the Arrow”.
 
Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree) for many years. At Christ the King Church, he was a trustee as well as a CCD teacher. Robert was also a reader for the church. He called bingo for the church and for the Knights of Columbus. Robert was a member of MCCL (right to life) for over 25 years. He was also involved with the American Legion for over 30 years. He served as Commander of Post 333 in Kasson. Robert also served in many state and district Legion positions over the years.
 
Robert is survived by his wife, Loretta; son, Dale, of Rosemount, MN; daughter, Jane (Mark) Senn and their children Corinna and Mitchell of Fountain City, WI; son, Raymond (Jen) Lechner and their children Naomi, Shelby, Sonny and Joseph of Laurel, Maryland; son, Mark Sevigny of Rochester, MN; son, Paul Sevigny of Acworth, GA; son, Isidore (Patty) Sevigny of Alpine, WY; granddaughter, Marilee (Mark) Chomos and children Brittany and Brianna of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter, Jessica Sevigny of Ashville, NC; grandson, Robert Sevigny of Kenai, Alaska; great-granddaughters, Bryjitte, Tessa, and Izibelle. He is also survived by sisters, Betty and Mavis (Wilbur) Pfenning and brother, Curtis (Jean) Lechner. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, son, Dean Lechner and granddaughter Rhoda.
 
Robert was a loving father who was very family oriented. He loved visiting family and friends. He also loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman.
 
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 202 4th St. NW, Byron MN. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, April 9, 2015 and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow the service at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN at 12:15 pm.

Oscar Hilliard, 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 4, 2015 at Fairview Nursing Home, Dodge Center, Minnesota.
He was born to Ross Emerson Hilliard and Josephine Marie Maxson on November 9, 1937 in Kasson, Minnesota. Oscar was baptized on 12-24-1939 at the United Methodist Church, Kasson, Minnesota. He graduated from high school on 5-29-1957 and then went to Austin Area Vocational School for carpentry, graduating on 6-3-1959.
 
Oscar married Janice Kozialek in1975. They were later divorced. He was a carpenter in the Kasson area for many years and also worked for Crenlo, in Rochester, Minnesota. He moved to Sterling, Virginia, where he continued his work as a carpenter. During his time there, he suffered a serious stroke from which he never fully recovered. Oscar moved back to the Senior Apartments, in Kasson, Minnesota until January 31,2007, when he became a resident of Fairview Nursing Home, in Dodge Center, Minnesota.
 
Oscar’s hobbies were fishing, carpentry, watching TV and listening to Country and Western Music.
 
He is survived by a brother Bob & Dorthy (Peterson) Hilliard of Kasson; sisters Mary Peterson of Kasson, and Joan Simonson of Novi, Michigan; sister-in-law Evelyn Dostal of Kasson & many nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Hilliard, sister Agnus (Peggy) Starkson and nephew Randy Hilliard.
 
A graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson, MN on Friday, April 17, 2015, at 10:00 AM.

Mrs. Margot L. Ballard, 77, of Rochester, MN passed away in her home surrounded by family on April 17, 2015, after a 21-month battle with brain cancer.
 
Margot was born to A. Hubert and Erna (Schneider) Lievertz in Detroit, MI, on October 8, 1937. In 1938, her family moved to Allen Park, MI. She graduated from Allen Park High School in 1955 and attended Marygrove College in Detroit, MI, for two years. On November 28, 1959, she married James E. Ballard, also of Allen Park, MI, and together they had two children. The couple resided in the Detroit area and Portage, IN, where she worked for the Ford Motor Company. In 1962, they moved to Boulder, CO, where she was first employed by the Granville-Phillips Company and later by the National Center for Atmospheric Research. She was also a Campfire Girls Leader and volunteered in the Boulder Schools.
 
In 1976, the family moved to Rochester, MN, where she was employed by the Rochester Post-Bulletin as the assistant to the Editor. In 1978, they moved to the home they were building just outside Mantorville, MN. In 1987, Margot received her B.A. in Business Management from the College of St. Teresa, Winona, while continuing her work at the PB. Not too long after that, she became the Director of the Dodge County Historical Society; a position she held for a few years before moving on to become the Curator at the Olmsted County Historical Society. She retired in 1999 and soon moved back to Rochester.
 
Margot was a member of the Widowed Persons Service in Rochester and served on the Board of Directors for the Mantorville Theatre Company and spent many years on the committee for the Zumbro Bend Rendezvous. She loved archery, sewing, making cordage with her lucet and reading historical novels of both non-fiction and fiction. She was quite the “foodie”; always up for trying a new place and would often plan trips around restaurants she wanted to visit. She enjoyed taking cruises and seeing new sights. Margot was particularly proud of the work she did with both the Olmsted County Historical Society and the Zumbro Bend Rendezvous, putting on a legendary chili feed for the participants year after year. Known as the “Lucet Lady”, she attended many rendezvous in the Minnesota-Wisconsin area and will be sorely missed by that community. She will always be remembered for how vivacious she was.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Ballard; parents, Adam Hubert and Erna Lievertz; niece, Kimberly Bergstrom and great-grandson, Andrew Karnes.
 
Margot is survived by her daughters, Suzanne A. Ballard of Austin, MN and Christiana (Robin) Maxson of Rochester; granddaughters, Robyn M. Hawkins, T. Lynn Fricker and Trisha A. Bergdale; six great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothea E. Shea of CA and her family; brothers, Alfred Lievertz of FL and Randolph W. Lievertz of IN and their families; and brother-in-law, Gary Ballard of IN and his family.
 
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Dibble Funeral Chapel, 213 W. Main St, Kasson, MN, followed by an Irish Wake with food and drink at the Hubbell House in Mantorville, MN from noon to 3:00 pm. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be no reviewal. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Wayne, MI at a later date.

Sue Ann Carol Ness, 61, of Mantorville, died peacefully on April 24, 2015, at the home of Tony and Monica Brossard in rural Pine Island.
 
Ms. Ness was born on April 23, 1954, in Rochester to Stanley and Alice (Boyum) Ness.
 
She graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1972. Sue Ann continued her education at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing with high distinction on June 10, 1978.
 
Sue Ann had a passion for horses, which included watching harness racing. She also loved selling lefse on Saturday mornings at the Rochester Downtown Farmers’ Market. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where weekly she enjoyed quilting and fellowship.
 
Sue Ann is survived by two brothers, Sterling (Sue) and Tom (Mary Adam); nephews, Todd (Jeri) Ness, Craig (Victoria Hale) and Tim Ness; great-nephews, Zachary, Joshua, Cody, and Coltan; great-niece, Morgan and loving aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
 
Visitation will be at Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St., Kasson, MN, on Tuesday, April 28, from 5:00-7:00 pm and at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW, Kasson, MN, on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 29, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Randy Fett officiating. Burial will follow at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson.

Dale Jensen, 88, of Kasson passed away on May 1, 2015 at his home in Kasson surrounded by his family.
 
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Corners United Methodist Church, 21927 – 650th St, Kasson with Pastor Joel Xavier officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Kasson.
 
Dale Jensen was born February 22, 1927 in Alden, MN to Peter and Opal (Tapp) Jensen. The family moved to Kasson in 1938. He graduated from Kasson High School in 1945. He served in the Army from 1945-1947 with duty in northern Italy. He was united in marriage to Wilma Helland in Dodge Center on May 28, 1950. They lived on their farm near Kasson for 42 years. He farmed most of his life and had several other jobs.
Dale was a member of the Kasson American Legion for 68 years and went on the Honor Fight to DC in 2008. He was a longtime member of the Pleasant Corners United Methodist Church in rural Kasson. Dale enjoyed time with family and friends. He continued to enjoy working with other farmers after his retirement and spending time with his wife gardening and enjoying the flowers. Dale also loved to watch old western movies.
 
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma; son, Alan (Connie) Jensen of Apple Valley; daughters, Nancy (Matt) Kleeberger of Kasson, Linda (Robert) Schwirtz of Bloomington, and Marie (Knute) Hegna of Little Falls; grandchildren, Melinda (Dave) Decker, David Jensen, Brian Jensen, Shianne Kleeberger, Katie Kleeberger, John Schwirtz, Opal Schwirtz, Andrew Hegna, and Eric Hegna; four great-grandchildren, Luke, Braiden, and MacKenzie Decker and Kale Hegna; one brother, Marlin (Joyce) Jensen. He was preceded in death by daughter, Karen; grandson, Karl Hegna; four brothers, Russell, Gordon, Richard, and Lloyd.

Lance Kent McQuarie, 71, of Kasson, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson, MN, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
 
Lance was born on February 29, 1944, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to John and Rosabelle (Thompson) McQuarie and attended Blue Earth High School. On November 7, 1964, he married Sandra Kopischke. Lance was a construction foreman for Wick Buildings Systems and traveled the five-state area building farm pole buildings. In 1970, the family made its home in Kasson where Lance was the Sales Manager and car salesman at Kasson Ford and Universal Ford in Rochester and where they raised their two children. They were divorced in 1982.
 
On February 10, 1990, Lance married Marlys Krueger in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Candlelight Chapel, and they continued to live in Kasson where Lance was employed at Kasson Lumber Company until his retirement in 2006.
 
Lance was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He loved hunting and fishing, was very involved in the local Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever chapters, and a strong advocate for wetland conservation. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion. He was known for his jerky, pickles, sauerkraut, salsa, and anything else you could put in a canning jar.
 
He is survived by his wife, Marlys McQuarie of Kasson; his daughter, Kristy (Mark) Turner of Kasson; son, Aaron McQ of Seattle, WA; stepson, Dean (Sharon) Aarsvold of Mankato, MN; stepdaughter, Sherie (Leslie) Roland of Fargo, ND; his mother, Rosabelle McQuarie of Prescott, WI; sister, Patty (George) Munchow, Bartlett, TN; brother, John (Patty) McQuarie, Jr., Phoenix, AZ, and sister Lisa Kohl, Prescott, WI, as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, John McQuarie and sister, Linda Jarmillo.
 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 4830 120th Ave SW, Kasson, MN with Pastor Mark Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in the South Zumbro Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour before the service; there will be no reviewal. Lunch will be provided afterward. Lester Dwayne Hanenberger was born on July 20,1950 in Preston, MN to Theodore and Eunice (Oliver) Hanenberger, Sr.
 
Lester Hanenberger, 64, of Kasson, MN died Friday, May 22, 2015, surrounded by his family at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN after a long battle with cancer.
 
Lester was born and raised in Minnesota. Lester’s family settled on a farm in Mantorville in 1961. Lester graduated from K-M High School in 1970. He served in the United States Air Force for a time and enjoyed helping his fellow veterans and their families. He had various types of jobs and spent most of his working career farming. Farming was his passion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. On February 12, 1983, Lester married Susan Schandorff in Kasson, MN.
 
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan Hanenberger of Kasson; five step-children, Rebecca Pelton of Burnsville, Alexander (Francoise) Davis of Oronoco, Daniel (Lyndee) Schandorff of Stewartville, Bonny Schandorff (Mike Olerich) of Waverly, Iowa and Casey Schandorff of Colorado; brothers, Orlando (Florence) of Byron, Carl (Cindy) of Red Wing, Bob (Dianne) of Blooming Prairie; sister, Laura Gilbertson of Kasson; sister-in-laws, Arletta and Catherine of Kasson as well as 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Melvin, Theodore, Jr. and Richard, Sr .

Mary H. (Walker) Macgregor passed away peacefully on June 10, 2015, at home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
 
Mary was born in Eveleth, MN to Arthur (Art) & Gladys Helps. They moved to Duluth when Mary was very young. Mary graduated from Duluth East High School in 1959. Shortly after, she met her first husband, Stan Bloomberg, and had two daughters that have since passed away. After divorcing, she met Edward “Dayne” Walker and moved to Byron. She had two sons, Dave & Brent. After divorcing Dayne, around 1978, she lived in Byron raising her two sons. Later she met William C. Macgregor. After getting married, they moved to Eagle Lake where she remained until her cancer diagnosis in January 2015. At that point, she moved to Kasson to live with her eldest son, Dave.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, two husbands and two children. She is survived by two sons, Dave (Darleen) Walker & Brent Walker; five step-sons, Bill Macgregor, Steve (Kate) Macgregor, Randy (Ann) Macgregor, Jim Macgregor & Mark Macgregor, twelve grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren.
 
A gathering will be held at Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St., Kasson, MN, on Saturday June 20th, from 11:00am to 3:00pm followed by an Irish Wake at the Kasson American Legion across the street. An inurnment will be in Duluth Calvary Cemetery to be announced at a later date.

Shelley Jeanne Trefz, 82, of Kasson, Minnesota, died peacefully in her sleep on June 23, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Her ashes will be taken to their final resting place in a private ceremony.
 
Shelley is survived by her three children, Jacquelyn Lee Danielson (Phil) of Kasson, James Robert Trefz (Lisa) of Brevard, North Carolina, and Michael Lewis Trefz of Phoenix, Arizona; and granddaughters Kirstin Ruth Trefz of Santa Rosa, California, and Tracey Jean Trefz of Phoenix, Arizona.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Foster and Almina (Blair) Lewis, and her husband, Donald Leroy Trefz.
 
Shelley was born on July 13, 1932 in Bottineau, North Dakota. She spent most of her youth in International Falls, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. She married Donald Trefz of Coggon, Iowa on September 4, 1950. She lived with her family in Osage, Nashua and Charles City, Iowa. In later years she spent winters in Florence, Arizona and summers on Lake Vermilion in her beloved Northern Minnesota. She has lived the past few years in Kasson, Minnesota.
 
Shelley served for many years on the Charles City library board, where she was instrumental in the building of a beautiful new library, and on the city council from 1982 to 1991. Upon Shelley’s retirement from the council the chief of police established the Trefz Award to honor her strong and effective support of the law enforcement mission. The award continues to be granted from time to time to honor a deserving person in the community.
 
Shelley loved the outdoors, particularly the North Woods, and was a skilled boater and angler. She mastered any handcraft to which she applied herself, and was known as an outstanding knitter and sewer. She was a champion bridge player. Shelley loved music: she relaxed by playing the organ, and graced many worship services with her beautiful soprano voice. She loved her family deeply and cherished her many friends. She was always the person that others came to for practical advice.
 
As a mother, grandmother, and friend, Shelley was well loved and will be missed. The family asked that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Paws and Claws Humane Society of Rochester, Minnesota or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.

Philip Arthur Kyllo, 90, passed away Friday morning, July 17, 2015, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Gayle, Phil’s wife of 62 years, two sons, daughter and daughter in-law, brother and sister in-law were at his side.
 
Phil was born October 20, 1924 to Richard and Amanda Kyllo on their farm in rural Hayfield. He attended rural grade school and graduated in 1943 from Hayfield High school. During the Korean conflict he enlisted in the army and served building bridges. After being honorably discharged in July 1952 Phil returned to Minnesota and on May 31, 1953 married Gayle Joan Burk from Amboy Minnesota. They made their home in Kasson and raised three children Bryan, Jan and Tom. He worked at Crenlo for a short time before joining IBM where he worked for 29 years, retiring in 1986.
 
He brought a love of travel and laughter to his family taking them on extensive road trips which continued into retirement. In his retirement, his job as a shuttle driver at Rochester’s Holiday Inn provided benefits that allowed them to continue traveling for many years. Before putting away the road maps, they had traveled to all of the continental United States and Canada. After retiring, Phil and Gayle moved to Rochester where he found ways to apply his ingenuity and creative talents working in his shop and finishing their retirement home. Always a kidder, he loved a good laugh, making other’s laugh and was not opposed to playing a prank now and then.
 
He will be greatly missed by his wife Gayle, son Bryan and his wife Genell (Mantorville), daughter Jan Guild (Rochester) and son Tom (Rochester). He is also survived by sister Nordis (Frank) Munnikhuysen of Palm Desert, CA, brothers Ralph (Wilma) and Raymond (Darlene) Kyllo both from Hayfield, sister-in-law Orpha (Sanford) Edgar (Conroe, TX), grandchildren Dianna (Mark) Gryniewski, Lindsey Kyllo, Adam (Elizabeth) Kyllo, and Gordon and Gabriel Guild. Phil was blessed to have three great-grandchildren Olan and Elise (Dianna and Mark) and Dominick (Adam and Elizabeth) who always made him smile.
 
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Thea, sister Ruth and brother in-law Earnest Sire (Napa, CA) and step-brothers Sanford Edgar (Conroe, TX) and Maurice Edgar (Austin)
 
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 3rd Ave SW, Rochester, MN. with Pastor Vern Christopherson officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. There will be no reviewal. Burial will follow at the Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Sergeant, MN.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials for them to distribute later according to their wishes.

The funeral service for Beverly Jean Carney of Kasson will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August, 10, 2015 at The Church of the Holy Family, 1904 North Mantorville Ave, Kasson, MN, with Fr. Harry Jewison officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the church, with a time to share stories at 5:00 pm, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kasson, MN.
 
Beverly Jean Carney, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN due to complications of cancer.
 
Bev was born February 11, 1933 in Milton Township to Dennis and Gladys (Swee) Kundert. Bev was raised in the rural Pine Island area. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1950. She married the love of her life, Harold Carney, on June 10, 1950 in Dodge Center. They spent 46 years together. Harold passed away February 23, 1996.
 
Through all the years they were together, Bev and Harold were never far apart. They were AFS host parents to six wonderful girls; Helle, Allison, Esther, Ana, Heidi and Stella. They spent countless hours in the concession stand at the K-M Football Field among many, many other volunteering duties.
 
Bev spent over 33 years doing daycare in her home. She made a difference in the lives of numerous children, many of whom she created lifelong relationships.
 
Bev and Harold spent many years at the Beaver Dam Resort in Cleveland, MN, enjoying time with their families, fishing for crappies and playing cards. They also spent many winters in Tucson, AZ.
 
After Harold passed away, Bev stayed very busy with many activities. She continued to run the concession stand for AFS until this past year and held offices in AFS, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Southeast MN Senior Federation, Kasson Senior Dining and Fairview Nursing Home Auxiliary. She also spent time volunteering with her church, Meals on Wheels and others. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and family.
 
She is survived by her three children, Paulette (Ardell) Riedel, Sue (Bill) Roeder and Mark (Tracy) Carney; “adopted” children, Helen (Bill) Morrison and Sue Iverson; grandchildren, Nicolle (Aaron) Wilke, Allyson (Chris) Holtz, Timothy Roeder and MMFN Christopher (Allison) Roeder, Darrick (Krista) Carney and Steven Carney; “adopted” grandchildren, Krystal, Jewel, Kory, Aaron and Jessica and nine great-grandchildren.
 
Bev will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Whether she was teaching us how to bake toffee bars or roll out lefsa or leading us by her example, she always loved unconditionally and had a heart that was bigger than anything we could ever imagine. It is an honor to call her our mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
 
We would like to thank everyone who has been a part of caring for Bev in recent months. There are not enough words to express our gratitude.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bev’s name will be donated to the many organizations that she supported.

Lee Roy Joseph Bordelon, Sr. of Mantorville, MN died of natural causes on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born on October 31, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores Bordelon, and his three children, Cheryl (Richard) Purdue of Byron, Bruce (Kristin) Bordelon of Mantorville and Lee Roy (Connie) Bordelon, Jr. of Mantorville. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Annette, Meredith and Chris Purdue, Bridget, Brian and Susanna Bordelon, Chanda Hassemer, Brandon and Bradley Bordelon and his five great-grandchildren.
 
Lee Roy was a longtime commercial beekeeper and raised queen bees for innumerable other commercial beekeepers, beginning at the age of 14. This passion and knowledge were passed on to many friends, his sons and his son-in-law. Because of his honey production and bee raising, Lee Roy traveled often between Louisiana, Texas and Minnesota. In addition, he was a member of the Sue Bee Honey Association and the American Beekeeping Federation. He was actively involved at his home parish of Holy Family Catholic Church in Kasson as well as his church in Jasper, Texas. Lee Roy was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a private pilot, and for many years enjoyed flying with friends in Texas. Five years ago, he became involved in Model T’s and enjoyed driving through the countryside with his “Tin Lizzie”.
 
A traditional Catholic Mass will be held in celebration of his life on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1904 N. Mantorville Ave, Kasson, MN. Visitation will be available one hour preceding the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association or charity of the donor’s choice are welcome.

Marsha Ann Pacolt (Nana), 67, of Mantorville, MN died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN from cancer.
 
Marsha was born on August 8, 1948, in Owatonna, MN to Edward and Virginia Lindquist. Marsha graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1966. From there, she continued her studies at Winona State University. She was married to Larry Worke on December 1, 1968 and had a daughter, Tammy, in 1969. Later they divorced and Marsha married Stan Pacolt in 1990.
 
Marsha worked for the Rice County Sheriff’s Department for many years. She then worked for the 911 Center in Owatonna as an Administrative Assistant. After that, she transferred to Maplewood and worked for the police department as a Supervisor of the Communications Center. Recently, Marsha was employed by Ramsey County as an Emergency Communications Manager.
 
Nana enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching her granddaughters play sports, going to the lake, spending time at her new home in Mantorville, and taking care of her four dogs. She touched many people’s lives with her kind heart and her big smile.
 
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Mark) Mathias; father and mother, Edward and Virginia Lindquist of Waterville, MN; sister, Sandy Kay (Tim) Bass of Blooming Prairie, MN; Larry (Annette) Lindquist of Blooming Prairie, MN; Lee (Sandy) Lindquist of Austin, MN and grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Pacolt and paternal and maternal grandparents.
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 – 8th Ave NW, Kasson, MN with Pastor Dana O’Brien officiating. Visitation will be at the Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St, Kasson, MN on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kasson, MN.

Mr. Donald Kenneth Swanson was born September 9, 1957, to Wanita and Jerry Swanson. Donald passed away at his home on Thursday, August, 27, 2015.
 
Donald graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1976; then served in the Marine Corps from 1976-1980. He enjoyed working at the farmer’s market, stock car races, hunting, sports, the Outdoor Channel and collecting antiques and model cars. Don was a member of the Mantorville City Council.
 
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, one brother and two children. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Swanson; three step-daughters, Kaylee (Andy), Kimberly (Alan) and Korie (Jason) all from Mantorville; 10 grandchildren; brother Bernard (Tammy) Swanson of Kasson, MN; sister Lorraine (Bruce) Stenhovden of Rochester, MN; step-dad Wallace Emholtz; two half brothers, Scott and Jeff from Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 10:00 am at The First Congregational Church, 515 Walnut Street, Mantorville, MN with Pastor Brian Egelston officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Pilot Mound Cemetery in Rural Chatfield, MN.

Joyce E. Walker, 74, of Mantorville passed away at her home on Friday, October 9, 2015. No funeral services are planned at this time.

Maxine Harris, 101, a longtime resident in the Kasson-Mantorville area, died of natural causes Thursday, October 29, 2015, at her residence in Kasson.
 
The funeral for Maxine Ruth Harris will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Congregational Church in Mantorville, with the Rev. Brian Egelston officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville.
 
She was born September 13, 1914, to Walter and Esther (Maxson) Stussy in Milton Township, Dodge County, Minnesota.  She attended country school, graduated form Mantorville High School, attended Winona Business School and  Teacher’s College before working as a bookkeeper for Rochester Coop Oil, Wilson Cheese Factory, and for Stussy Construction.
 
On Feb. 27, 1937, Maxine married Vinton Curtis Harris in Rochester. From 1939 to 1980, they farmed in rural Mantorville. They moved to Mantorville. In 2001, they moved to Kasson. She was a member of First Congregational Church since the age of 14.  She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, playing organ for the church, gardening, cooking , avid fan of MN Twins and Timberwolves, and visiting with her Prairie Meadows family.
 
Survivors include Jacqueline (Charles) Moore of Worthington, Minn.,  Patricia Kivela of St. Paul  and  Jerald (Rosemary) of rural Mantorville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Lorraine (Lloyd) Stussy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vinton, two brothers, Donald and Lloyd, and a sister Irene.
 
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the First Congregational Church and one hour before the church service.
 
Memorials are preferred to the First Congregational Church in Mantorville or Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
