Viola “Vi” Meitzner ~ Kasson

Viola “Vi” A. Meitzner, 94, of Kasson passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Prairie Meadows Sr. Living in Kasson.

Vi was born on April 22, 1920 in McPherson Township in Blue Earth County, MN to Omer and Alma (Lindenburger) Bolinger. Vi married Wilfred Meitzner on May 5, 1936 in Faribault and moved to Mantorville, living above the Hubbell House. She worked at Erdman’s Grocery in Mantorville and also cooked meals for the workers at the Mantorville Brewery. With her desire to cook, Wilfred and Vi moved to Claremont and leased the first Coffee Cup Cafe in the early 1950’s and then purchased and opened up the second Coffee Cup Cafe down the block.

In May of 1967, Vi, Wilfred and family moved to Kasson. She continued driving back and forth to Claremont until she sold the Coffee Cup Cafe in April of 1973. From 1977 to 1980, she was the Welcome Hostess to new families moving to the City of Kasson. In 1980, she returned to the restaurant business and was a waitress and hostess at Daniel’s Restaurant in Kasson. She worked at Daniel’s for 18 years, retiring in 1998 at the age of 78.

Vi’s pastimes were enjoying her family, spoiling her grandchildren, worked in her flower beds and fishing at her little pink cabin up on Lake Sibley.

Vi is survived by her children, Connie (Gary) Wobig and John (June) Meitzner; grandsons, Brad (Amy) Wobig, Brant (Kristin) Wobig and Christopher Meitzner; great-grandsons, Charlie and Jake Wobig; sister Darlene Munson, formerly of Owatonna, and many nieces and nephews.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Omer & Alma Bolinger; step-mom Polly Bolinger; husband Wilfred Meitzner; two infant children; brother Galen Bolinger; sister Donna Mork and baby sister Lavonne Marlene Bolinger.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 22 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 6th Ave. NW, Kasson, MN with Pastor Clint Patterson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 21 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St, Kasson, and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Owatonna, MN.


Beverly Poffenberger ~ Kasson

Beverly J. Poffenberger, 77, of Kasson, died October 13, 2014 at Francis House, in Syracuse, New York.

Beverly was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Hayfield, to Curtis and Edna (Lee) Lee.  She attended school in Hayfield. She married Gaylord Poffenberger on Oct. 6, 1956. They resided in Kasson and also 31/2 years at their lake home in Pine City, MN. She worked at the Pinnacle restaurant in the Kahler Hotel, and also at the Kasson State Bank for many years when she retired.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending every weekend at their cabin in Pine City. Her and Gaylord loved following the MN Twins and MN Vikings. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Roger) Ellingson of Syracuse, NY, one grandson Benjamin (Shawna Bowman) Rendler,  of Rochester; one granddaughter Jennifer (Gabe Jerome) of Berkshire, NY; three great-grandchildren, Madison and Austin Rendler of Faribault; and Tristan Jerome of Berkshire, NY; six sisters, Donna (Junior) Jorgenson of Hayfield, Glenda (Eugene) Schwemmer of Dexter, Carol Bassett of Rochester, Kathryn (Jim) Annis of Rochester, Bonnie (Jeff) Hinkle of Stewartville, and Wendy (Jeff) Puller of Kenyon,  one brother, Dale (Jody) Lee of Racine and several nieces and nephews. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Gaylord,  and her parents. Beverly also had an extended family in NY; Kathy Burlin, Marybeth Sorber, and Annie, Becky, Sally, Vicki, Mary Jane, Rena, Ella, Sisters, Kathleen, Ida and Kathleen B, from Francis House and Mike, Vicki, and Lindsey from Hospice, she loved you dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Friday, October 31, 2014, at St John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave. N.W. in Kasson, with Pastor Randy Fett officiating.

Visitation will be held from  5 p.m. to 7p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at the church and one hour prior to the memorial service at the church on Friday. There will be no reviewal. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetary in Mantorville.

Allan N. Johnson ~ Dodge Center

Allan Norman Johnson, 92, of Dodge Center, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center.

Allan was born May 28, 1922 in Dodge Center, to Henry Louis Johnson and Ethel Minnie (Clark) Johnson.  He married Beth Irene (Woodward) Johnson on September 10, 1941.

Allan was a lover of animals, working his small hobby farm most of his life, giving it up only recently.  Allan had an incredible work ethic, working for many local farmers in the Concord, MN area.  He also worked at the Wasioja Creamery, Wanamingo Cheese Factory, OMC and finally McNeilus Steel where he continued to work until calling it quits in 2009.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren whom he adored.

Allan is survived by his wife, Beth; sons Larry Johnson of Dodge Center, MN; Gary (Jeannie) Johnson of Dodge Center, MN; daughter Judy Boyer of Dodge Center, MN; grandchildren, Kate (Faron) Staffon of Dodge Center, MN; Stephanie (Michael) Cappelletti of Cambridge, MA; Jaime (Scot) French of Edina, MN; Michael (Christy) Boyer of Rochester, MN;
Kim Johnson of Dodge Center, MN; Tim (Karlene) Johnson of Mazeppa, MN; and Jim (Heather) Johnson of Wasioja, MN; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Haley Staffon; Maxx and Xander Cappelletti; Avery, Hadley and Cambrie French; Zachary, Sydney, Melanie, Jonathan and Jacob Boyer; Cruz, Cori (Brian) Robinson, Emily and Ally Gunderson; Corbin Johnson, and Dillanjer Johnson.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Douglas Norman Johnson and great-grandson Isaac Boyer.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2:30 pm at the Faith Community Church, 305 State Street, West Concord, MN, with Pastor David Breederland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no reviewal. Burial will be on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be directed to them.

Dorothy Stucky ~ Dodge Center

Dorothy Elizabeth Stucky passed away November 15, 2014, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN.

Dorothy Elizabeth Ford was born on April 23, 1917 in Chicago, Ill. She moved with her family to Pasadena, California when she was five years old. She attended school there, taking up cosmetology after high school.

She married Haven (Kap) Stucky in 1941. They farmed in Milton and Mantorville Townships and then, many years ago, moved to rural Dodge Center, MN. Dorothy worked at the Dodge County Courthouse from 1948 to 1985; first as Deputy Clerk of Court, then Deputy Treasurer and finally Treasurer. She was the first woman to hold an elective office in Dodge County. She retired in 1985.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Haven (Kap) and one brother.

At Dorothy’s request, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN.

Dorothy Johnston ~ Hayfield

Dorothy Ruth Johnston, 89, of Hayfield, MN passed away Sunday, November 23 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester after a short illness.

 

Dorothy was born June 2, 1925, in Eagle Valley, MN to Ralph and Laura Kirkland. Dorothy married Rhonald Johnston on February 26, 1950. She farmed with her husband in the Blooming Prairie, Dodge Center and Concord areas.

 

She was employed at Waters Instruments in Rochester and Fold Craft in Kenyon, MN. After retirement, she loved to garden, travel, quilt, paint and go to auto races as well as spend time with family and grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church altar society, West Concord Legion Auxiliary, Dodge County Legion Auxiliary. She made many quilts for the Ronald McDonald House, area nursing homes and several charities.

 
She is survived by her children Barb (Tom) Threinen of Mantorville, Rhonda (Dwight) Hvitved of Goodhue and Bonnie Johnston of Lompoc, CA; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rhonald, her parents, sister, brother and two sons, Charles and Rodney.

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 26 from 9:00-10:30 AM with funeral services following at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, West Concord, MN with Pastor David Westlake officiating. Burial will take place in the Spring at Concord Cemetery in Old Concord, MN. There will be no reviewal.

Virginia Blaine ~ Kasson

Virginia M. Blaine, 92, of Kasson, passed away at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth in Rochester, on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014.
 

Virginia M. Hegna was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Sargeant. She married Clark Blaine on June 1, 1940, in Osage, Iowa. Mr Blaine died in 2003. Virginia was active in the Boston Cafe, Ranch Motel and Horizon Construction until retirement. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson since 1946.
 

Virginia loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, crafts, family genealogy, traveling with her husband and cooking. Her family and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
 

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Blaine of Kasson; a son, Carter (Kathy) Blaine of Rochester; one grandson, Jon (Rebecca) Blaine of Kasson; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Nick) DeFrang of Rochester, Carly (Samone Derks) Blaine of Seattle, Wash., and Lindsey (Phil Carlson) Blaine of Rochester; she has four great-grandchildren, Jarrett and Taylor Blaine of Kasson and Charlie and Claire DeFrang of Rochester.
 
A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson.

Bernette Kellar ~ Kasson

Bernette Kellar was born December 14, 1922 in Kasson to Clarence and Josie Himle. She grew up in Kasson and graduated from Kasson High School in 1940.
 

After high school she was employed at Davidson Loan Company in Minneapolis. In 1947 she returned to Rochester and was employed at Mayo Clinic for 14 years. After that she was employed for many years at the Kasson-Mantorville Telephone Company.
 

She married Kenneth Kellar on March 2, 1957 at the little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters Alice and Joan. She is survived by her step-daughters Barbara Kellar of Coon Rapids, MN, Kathleen (Buddy) Martinez of Kasson, grandsons Todd (Jeri) Ness and Craig (Victoria) Ness of Kasson, three great grandsons and a great granddaughter, nephews Jim Kisro, John Kisro and nieces Jody Carlson, Jill O’Neill.
 

In accordance with her request, there will be no reviewal or visitation and her body will be cremated. There will be a private graveside service at a later date.

Lyle Fiegel ~ Kasson

Lyle Fiegel, 92, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson, Minnesota.
 

He was born at the family farm southeast of Kasson on September 8, 1922, to Oliver and Vivian (Tucker) Fiegel. Lyle completed country school through the eighth grade and then began farming on the family farm with his father. For many years, they had dairy cattle and hogs along with corn, soybeans, hay, and oats. He sold Funks Seed Corn in the 1940s and 1950s. Later he farmed with his son and grandson. He liked to dance and going to dance halls. Lyle married Alice Johnson of Kasson on June 16, 1944, and was later divorced.
 

Lyle loved farming and was able to continue farming until he was 85 years old. He moved to Prairie Meadows Senior Living in September 2010. He enjoyed going for rides to see the progress of crops and how the harvest was coming along. He loved looking at farming magazines and talking about farming. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
 

Lyle is survived by his son, Jerry (Coralie) Fiegel of Kasson; daughter, Diane (Charles) Dick of Rochester; sister, Catherine Roberts of Quartz Hill, California; four grandchildren, Julie (Dennis) Mattila of Watertown, Wisconsin; Joseph Fiegel of Kasson; Stephen Dick of Seattle, Washington; Andrew Dick of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; a nephew, John Roberts of Quartz Hill, California; and special friend Sharon Rieken. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law George Roberts.
 

His body was donated to the Mayo Foundation for research and education at his request.
 

A gathering will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St., Kasson.

Joyce Alberts ~ Mantorville

Joyce Alberts, 79, of Mantorville passed away Sunday, December 28 at her home.
 

Joyce was born January 5, 1935 in Minnesota City to Edward and Hazel Stewart.  She graduated from Mantorville High School in 1953.
 

On September 21, 1953, she married Donald Alberts and moved to a farm north of Mantorville.  Joyce worked as a bookkeeper for various places as well as helped on the farm.
 

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald, three children, Laurie (Scott) Lund of Blaine, Debbie Alberts of Mantorville, and Wayne (Tammy) Alberts also of Mantorville; six grandchildren; eight great-grand children; and two sisters, Janette Felger of Byron and Ann Wilke of Kasson.
 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ramona Peabody and Hazel Paulsen.
 

Joyce was strong in her faith and spent many hours volunteering.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, served as a Deaconess, as well as other positions at the church.  Joyce also loved gardening, canning, baking and spending time with grandchildren, friends and family.
 

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11am at the First Congregational Church in Mantorville with Pastor Brian Egelston officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. 
 

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a contribution to the First Congregational Church of Mantorville.

Kary L. Garvey ~ Mantorville

Kary Lynn Garvey passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was born January 17, 1966 in Ada, MN to Wendel and Marjorie (Holmen) Corbett.  Kary graduated from Aurora/Hoyt Lakes High School in 1984 and the University of North Dakota in 1988 with a bachelor of science degree in computer science and bachelor of arts degree in marketing. 
 

After graduating, she moved to Rochester, MN in December of 1988.  On January 7, 1989, she married Russel Garvey in Grand Forks, ND.
The couple moved to Mantorville, MN in 1993.
 

Kary worked at IBM as a computer programer and most recently for CTG in the IBM Software support center.
 

Kary enjoyed hockey, quilting and was very active with all of her children’s activities.
 

Kary is survived by her husband Russel, daughter Brooke, son Jacob, four brothers: Ken, Brad, Brent and Kevin, father Wendell and step-mother Kaye.

Kary was preceded in death by mother, Marjorie Corbett.
 

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Dibble Funeral Chapel, 213 West Main, Kasson, MN on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Twila Goodman ~ Kasson

Twila A. Goodman, 86, of Kasson, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Saint Mary’s Hospital of natural causes. 
 

Twila was born in Rochester on Dec. 28, 1928, the daughter of John and Helen Nelson. Twila graduated from Byron High School in 1947. She married Charles Edward Goodman of Byron on June 8, 1947. They were married for 64 years and had five children. Twila worked as a telephone operator on the switchboard in Byron. She worked at Erdman’s grocery store in Mantorville. She then went to work at the Dodge County Courthouse for 26 years. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed being president of the TOPS club in Kasson, and was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson. Her last few years she thoroughly enjoyed her time as secretary at the Sunwood Senior Citizens Center in Kasson, visiting and sharing meals with friends, playing cards and bingo!
 

She is survived by two sons, John Charles (Lynda) of Mantorville and James Allan (Teresa) of Hayfield; two daughters, Judy Ann Goodman of Byron and Jean Marie Goodman of Byron; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Virgil Nelson of Rochester; and sister, LaVonne Ermeloff of Oronoco.
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Goodman; her parents, John and Helen Nelson; son, Joel Edward Goodman; brother, Jarl Nelson; and two sisters, Darlene Strain and Shirley Ann Nelson.
 

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 Eighth Ave. NW in Kasson, with Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in rural Rochester. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Paul D. Brannan ~ Mantorville

Paul David Brannan, 57, of Mantorville, MN passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, at his home following an acute heart attack. He was born February 11, 1957, in Rochester, MN, the son of Glen and Pauline (Boyum) Brannan.
 

Paul attended Kasson-Mantorville Schools, class of 1976. He entered the U.S. Army following high school. Upon discharge, he was employed in the construction business for several years, building silos, pole buildings, and doing concrete work.
 

In recent years, he enjoyed helping out on the Tvedt farm, his brother Mark’s hog farm, and spent a lot of time helping his good friend Larry Hanson at his farm. Paul also enjoyed metal scrapping and recycling. He will always be remembered for his willingness to help others, his good-hearted nature, and hearty laugh.
 

He was united in marriage on June 10, 1978 to Jurine Peterson. They were later divorced.
 

Paul is survived by his children, Jodi (Kyle) Larson of Troy, ID and Matt (Nicole) Brannan of Kasson, MN; grandchildren Cole, Hannah and Julia Larson and Viola and Zoey Brannan; mother Pauline (Lowell Tvedt); brothers, Gary (Tracy Stephens), Mark Bruno (Jenny) all of Kasson and Dale (Andrea) of Mantorville; step-brother John (Jodie) Tvedt of rural Byron and step-sister Sarah (Eric) Poole of Byron. Paul leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
 

Paul is also survived by his life partner of 24 years, Laurie Cotten; step-daughters Georgina Logan of Rochester and Jesse Logan of Mantorville, and step-grandchildren, Adrian and Jazmin Hollins.
 

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Brannan; paternal grandparents, Miles and Frances Brannan; maternal grandparents, Selmer and Julia Boyum; infant brother and step-grandchild, Alexander Hollins.
 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015, at 1:00 pm at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 4830 – 120th Ave SW, Kasson, MN with Pastor Mark Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. There will be no reviewal.
 

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.

Douglas M. Hegna ~ Kasson

Douglas Monroe Hegna, 84, passed away on January 18, 2014, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN. Douglas was born on June 12, 1930 in Sergeant, MN to Knute and Mabelle Hegna. Doug was united in marriage to Sally Thronson on June 23, 1956.
 

Douglas was in the US Army 1951-1953 and a member of the American Legion for 68 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Quarve and Anderson Construction Company in Rochester, MN and retired in 1994. Douglas enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
 

Douglas is survived by his children Cindy (Robert) Quaale of Dodge Center, MN, Sheila Hegna of Rochester, MN, and son, Jody Knute (Marie) Hegna of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren Joshua Iverson, Stacey Iverson, Andrew Hegna, Eric Hegna, and Dylan Quaale and great-grandchildren Hayven Iverson, Colton Ness and Kale Hegna.
 

Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Hegna, three brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
 

The funeral service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson, MN with Pastor Randy Fett officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elmer Boyum ~ Kasson

Elmer Boyum, 95, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson.
 

Elmer was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Canisteo Township, Dodge County, to Knute and Karina (Emerson) Boyum. He was baptized and confirmed at South Zumbro Lutheran Church. On Nov. 14, 1940, he married Norma Sorensen at East St. Olaf Church near Rock Dell. Norma died on June 29, 1946. He married Lucille Megrund on March 4, 1955, at the South Zumbro parsonage. 
 

The 10th of 11 children, he grew up on the family farm in rural Kasson and attended Flatta Country School. He worked as a farm hand and eventually purchased his parents’ farm. He later bought and operated two other farms south of Kasson, where he spent all of his working life. In addition to farming, he drove a fuel truck for Farmers Co-op of Hayfield and was a bus driver for Kasson-Mantorville Public Schools. Elmer retired from farming in 1974 and moved into Kasson in 1976. He moved into Prairie Meadows in 2012, but he never gave up on his goal of returning to his home. 
 

Elmer was a lifelong member of South Zumbro Lutheran Church. He was active in agricultural and political issues with the Farmers Union. He enjoyed his family, particularly playing board games with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granddaughter. 
 

Elmer is survived by his wife, Lucille; one daughter, Carol (Ron) Rick of Dixon, Ill.; four sons, Norlyn of Peoria, Ariz., Kendall (Julie) of Hayfield, Tom (Gail) of Bloomington, Minn.; and Dwight (Judy) of Rochester; grandchildren Jaymie Boyum, Christine Frankowski, Chuck Boyum, Robin Smith, Jodi Rick, Bill Rick, Jennifer Rick, Susan Powers, Patrick Boyum,  Karine Greene, Audrin Place, Tanya Gregg, Tasha Raymo, Seth Boyum, Grace Boyum and Faith Boyum; great-grandchildren Sadie Rabun, Zachary Rabun, Ann Marie Frankowski, Emily Smith, Erica Smith, Erin Smith, A.J. Murdock, Owen Rick, Olivia Rick, Ethan Rick, Marissa Boyum, Andra Morales Reyes, Kamiah Adams, Paige Greene, Kennedy Greene, Katie Powers, Nyah Gregg, Brayden Raymo and Kaylee Raymo; and one great-great granddaughter, Brielle Boyum-Henrichs.
 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma; granddaughter Heidi Rick;  great-granddaughter Natalie Gregg; brothers Selmer, Clarence, Clifford, Bennie and Walter, and sisters Ruby, Edna, Luella, Esther and Clara. 
 

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 4830 120th Ave. SW, in rural Kasson, with the Rev. Mark Schwartz officiating.

Christian Thomas Wilcox died on January 18, 2015 near Mantorville, MN.
 

Christian was born January 25, 1991, in Rochester and lived most of his life in Mantorville. He graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 2009. Christian was active in Boy Scouts, and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in 2009, following a restoration project in Mantorville’s Riverside Park.
Christian was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing in all seasons, learning to goose call and hunt when he was very young. He mentored others in the sports as well. He enjoyed many snowmobile trips to Wyoming with friends, golfing –especially an annual family reunion tournament– and spending time with his friends and his Labrador retriever, Riva.
 

Christian is survived by his parents, Mark and Michelle Wilcox, and sister, Kathryn (Katie) Wilcox, all of Mantorville; grandparents, Ronald and Darlene (Krumwiede) Olson of Eagan and Thomas and Mary (Runde) Wilcox of Mantorville; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 

A celebration of Christian’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January, 24, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8th Avenue NW, Kasson, MN with Pastor Randy Fett officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Donald “Don” G. Denny, 74, of Rochester, passed away Sunday, Jan, 25, 2015, of natural causes at Cottagewood Senior Living in Rochester.
 

Don was born and raised in Mantorville. He and Donna Horsman were married in January of 1960.
 

He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Duane; grandson, Donavan (wife, Crystal) with four great-grandchildren, Jourdain, Cameron, Shaelyn and Kaedynce; and grandson, Benjamin with two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Lillian.
 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Morris and Helen Denny; three brothers, Jim, LaVerne and David and one sister, LaVonne Wangerin.
 

Don liked old cars, camping, fishing, hunting, country music, and building things, especially bird houses.
 

He worked in underground construction, at the Dodge County Court House and had his own cleaning business. 
 

Don loved his family and church family very much.
 

Memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. at the Dexter United Methodist Church, 115 S. Main St, Dexter MN 55926, with Pastor Karen Ashton officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lyla E. Wilcox, 98, formerly of the Kasson-Mantorville area, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at Colony Court Memory Care and Care Suites under hospice care in Waseca.
 

She was born April 15, 1916, to Andrew and Emily Larson in La Crosse County, Wisconsin. She married Frank DeLos Wilcox on Nov. 27, 1937. The couple lived in California a short time. In 1944 they moved to rural Mantorville and farmed there. They retired from farming in 1980 and moved into Kasson. 
 

Lyla was active in the First Congregational Church in Mantorville most of her married life. She loved working in her church and motorcycling with her husband.
 

Survivors include a son, Wesley (Terry) Wilcox of Rochester; two daughters, Beverly Ranvek of Florida and Joy (Russell) Weir of Waseca; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and one son-in-law. 
 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank D. Wilcox; daughter, Betty C. Johnson; two brothers; two sisters; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 515 Walnut St. in Mantorville, with Pastor Brian Egelston officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja.

Kreidermacher, Jenean Color

Jenean Carol Kreidermacher, 75, of Kasson, MN died February 6, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN surrounded by her family. She was born January 26, 1940, at St. Mary’s Hospital to William and Esther (Iverson) Marquardt.
 

She was raised in Kasson and graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School. She was united in marriage to John (Jack) Kreidermacher on September 1, 1962, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Dodge Center, MN.
 

Jenean worked in Rochester at Methodist Hospital as a housekeeper for a number of years. She then worked 33+ years at Kasson-Mantorville Elementary as a Title 1 Aide, crossing guard, playground supervisor, and lunchroom monitor where she was known as Grandma K to many until her retirement in 2005.
Jenean’s many activities included Girl Scout Leader, fishing and camping with the family on weekends to Alexandria, being a foster care provider, babysitting, selling tickets at K-M athletic events with her husband, going for long rides to see the colors in the fall, playing the penny slots at Treasure Island and for the last 25 years spent her weekends going to festivals in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota with the parade floats.
 

Jenean is survived by the “love of her life” Jack Kreidermacher, daughters Jane and Barb, son John (Jody Janz), granddaughters Chelsey and Kenzie, grand dog Deuce all of Kasson as well as Melissa Anderson of Hopkins and Tony Anderson of Kasson (part of Jenean’s extended family). She was preceded in death by her parents and a foster son Francis Nielsen.
 

There will be a visitation on Sunday February 15, 2015 at Church of the Holy Family, 1904 N. Mantorville Ave, Kasson, MN, from 4-6pm and one hour prior to mass on Monday. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Church of the Holy Family, Kasson, MN, on Monday February 16, 2015, at 2:30pm. Burial will be at St. Margaret’s Cemetery, Mantorville, MN.
 

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society, Ability Building Center, and Kasson-Elementary School (memo – Peace Garden).

Edward Allan Highum 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Mantorville on February 14, 2015.
 

Edward was born September 12, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Percival E. Highum and Alice (Groth) Highum. He grew up in the Twin Cities and Mantorville, MN. He attended and graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1955. Edward married Audrey Durst in 1959 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson, MN.
 

He was employed by IBM from 1956 until his retirement in 1991 as a manufacturing engineer. He also taught drafting at the Rochester Technical College while employed at IBM. An avid construction toy collector, he enjoyed attending various toy shows, swap meets and construction equipment events. His passion for collecting began as a youth when his father owned a road construction company. Edward suffered a stroke in 1995, but did not let this slow him down. He and Audrey traveled the region and wintered in Las Vegas for a few years.
 

A life-long Mason, Edward recently received his 50-year membership pin from the Kasson/Mantorville Masonic Lodge. He was involved with the Osman Shrine Temple and was a Past President of the Rochester Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite. 
 

He enjoyed restoring antique toys and reading construction literature.
 

As a father, Edward completed many projects for his sons and enjoyed working outdoors as well as tinkering on projects for friends.
 

He will be missed.
 

Edward was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Audrey, and sons Eric (Robin) Highum of Howell, MI, and Jay Highum of Rochester, MN. 
 

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 20, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (301 8th Ave NW) in Kasson, with the Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville.
 

A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (301 8th Ave NW) in Kasson, and one hour prior to the service at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
